Able Bodies Therapists

Michael Rush - Dip Remedial Massage, B Rur. Sci. (Hons) ATMS 18435

I have been massaging in a clinic setting since 2004, when I joined the Armidale Healing Centre.  I decided to open my own clinic in 2009, and am the owner of Able Bodies.  I specialise in Deep Remedial, Sports massage, Trigger point & Myofacial release.  I am also Work Cover accredited (RMT 5499), and have sucessfully completed many return-to-work plans for a variety of workplace injuries.  I consider that the client is the focus of any treatment, and aim to tailor all treatments to the needs and requirements of the client.

Ken Behrens - Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Remedial Massage

I graduated with Bach of Acupuncture in 1980, and a Cert in Chinese Herbal Medicine in 1996. After working in both Sydney and the Central Coast I moved to Armidale in 2001. While in Armidale I completed the Bach Health Science at UNE and the Dip Remedial Massage. I am a longstanding member of the Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association.

I migrated from the Armidale Healing Centre when Michael opened "Able Bodies". My treatments are primarily therapy based and I find the combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and massage gives effective results.

I am a Reiki practitioner and also do dowsing, colour therapy and chakra balancing.

I find massage a very rewarding career and my aim is to help my clients overcome injuries and other problems and have a better quality of life.

Catherine Higgins - Dip Shiatsu & Oriental Therapies STAA no 901684

I feel that the body provides a range of subtle information which is I take into account during a treatment to work towards balancing Ki or energy. I have studied movement and voice work and feel that creating movement of energy in all aspects of life can bring more ease and catalyse change where this is needed. Shiatsu treatments are designed to meet the needs of each individual. Many people find shiatsu a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating experience. My studies included using a Traditional Chinese Medicine approach & Zen Shiatsu.

Cate McRae - Dip. Naturopathy

I began my naturopathic studies in 1995. I had always been interested in natural health but it was probably after I had my son Lachlann that I thought about it more. It took me two and a half years to have a child because of 'medical problems', but with supplements and herbs he was finally conceived. I qualified in 2004.

I see all different types of conditions in my practice: thyroid issues, menopause, infertility, children's issues, general tiredness and digestive disorders. My favourite thing to do is pre conception care and the resulting conceptions. Being in a regional area you often see people putting more focus on supplementing their cattle and sheep for breeding, but forget that humans need the same if not more care.

Over the next few years I am hoping to assist many couples to make happy healthy babies. So then, of course, I would love to look after the child's on going health and the parents. So it would be the whole family that I would look after.

Ann Rush - Cert. Thai Foot Massage

I have a certificate in Thai Foot Massage from Thailand. I have recently established my practice in Armidale at Able Bodies. I have found that many people have never experienced foot massage and they are very keen to know what affect it will have in the body. I love to tell them.

I see it is a natural way to take off our shoes and rubbing our feet after a long day on them. Rubbing feet is something we will do without even realising what we are doing. We can feel it relieves the aches and pain from the tired feet.

As you might know there are thousands of nerve endings in the feet that correlate in the whole body. So, I am sure if you receive a full practice of foot massage, you will have some benefits such as relaxation, reducing stress, improved circulation and cleansing, or improving the digestion problems. Those are my aims, to let you deserve them. Book in and try it TODAY.

Dr. Amanda Liddell - BHSc. Acupuncture. ATMS 26273. AHPRA CMR0001740376

My Journey as an alternative healing practitioner really began way back in the 80’s with a simple meditation course. From there an insatiable appetite began in a quest to understand what it is to be human, from every perspective. Mental, spiritual, emotional and physical. Since then I have studied and experience many forms of alternative healing, as well as the many philosophical view points that accompany them.

For me, Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Japanese Acupuncture techniques that I now use are a perfect match. With the ability to address a vast array health issues, I find Oriental medicine an extremely effective and versatile healing modality. And for those of you who always wanted to try acupuncture but don’t like the idea of needles, then I have got a few non insertion needle techniques, that are just for you.
